SLC Multimodal Transportation Delegation | December 8-10, 2014

A delegation of state legislative leaders from five Southern states visited Florida for high-level briefings on the state’s impressive multimodal transportation strategies. Arranged in collaboration with the Florida Department of Transportation, the delegation provided first-hand information to SLC member state legislators about Florida’s efforts to enhance its multimodal capacities as a mechanism to promote international and domestic trade.
Tennessee Senator Douglas Henry, long-standing member of the Executive Committee of the Southern Legislative Conference and chair of the Conference from 1988-1989, draws to a close six decades of service to the people of Tennessee. As a tribute to Senator Henry, the longest serving legislator in Tennessee history, the Tennessee State Library and Archives produced a video reflection of Senator Henry’s life and service. SLC Criminal Justice and Mental Health Delegation Visits Model Program in San Antonio, Texas

A delegation of legislators convened in San Antonio, Texas, November 17-18, 2014, for briefings on the Center for Health Care Services’ (CHCS) Restoration Center jail diversion program and the Haven for Hope homeless center. 

SLC Delegation Joins SSEB Tour of Nuclear Plant

On November 14, 2014, a delegation of SLC members from Alabama and South Carolina joined the Southern States Energy Board on a tour of two nuclear energy facilities under construction at the Alvin W. Vogtle Electric Generating Plant near Waynesboro, Georgia. 

SLC Hosts Legislative Service Exchange Program in Atlanta

Members of the House Fiscal Division of the Louisiana House of Representatives met with staff in the House Budget and Research Office (HRBO) of the Georgia House of Representatives in Atlanta, Georgia, to discuss processes and procedures related to formulating the state budget.
