Q:

How is the methamphetamine epidemic affecting our region?

A: Methamphetamine was once a problem largely restricted to the western United States, but over the past several years meth has established a grip on the Midwest and South.

Missouri has led the region in the number of meth lab seizures over the past several years.  Missouri recently passed a law restricting the sale of products that contain pseudoephedrine in hopes of reducing the number of meth labs.  U.S. Senator Jim Talent of Missouri is also co-sponsoring a senate bill that would limit the sale of pseudoephedrine nationwide.

The table below illustrates the growing trend of the methamphetamine epidemic affecting our region.
