| Q: |
What are the obesity rates in the SLC
states? |
| A: |
Obesity rates have been accelerating across
the United States in recent years with adult obesity rates rising
significantly from 15 percent of total population in 1980 to 19.4 percent in
1997 to 24.5 percent in 2004, a trend that has negative impacts on both the
health of our population and our fiscal position. In 2004, obesity rates
rose in every state, except Oregon, with eight of the top ten most obese
states being SLC states. |
