Question:
How much aid will the SLC states receive under the new federal tax cut?
In late May 2003, both chambers of the U.S. Congress and the president agreed
on a $350 billion package designed to promote economic growth across the
country. A major provision for the passage of this legislation in the U.S.
Senate was a $20 billion state aid component that included $10 billion for
Medicaid/FMAP and $10 billion in the form of flexible grants for states. The
table below presents a breakdown of the amounts the 16 SLC states are slated to
receive under the legislation.
